Mass. DPH virus update: One new death in Berkshires, while cases hold; U.S. surpasses 2M infected

There was one new COVID-19 death and no new confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Berkshires, the state reported on Friday.

Massachusetts announced 46 new deaths, now totaling 7,538 statewide. 

The number of people killed by COVID-19 in Berkshire County ia now at 42; to date, 575 have been confirmed to have had the virus in the Berkshires, the same number on Thursday. 

The state Department of Public Health reported that there were 392 new confirmed cases, for a statewide total of 105,059.

In the U.S., 113,914 Americans have been killed by COVID-19, and 2,016,027 have tested positive for the virus, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
