Miss Hall's girls basketball tops Westover 42-34 in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD — A couple days after a hectic four-games-in-three-days start to its season, the Miss Hall's girls basketball team picked up a key home win over Westover 42-34.

The Hurricanes improved to 3-2 with the win, getting a team-high of 14 points from newcomer Julianne Liebow.

Hall's led the game throughout, going ahead 21-10 at halftime. Westover moved to a pressure defense, but the backcourt play of Shae Daley (14 rebounds) and Emily Hunter (six points, eight assists and nine rebounds) managed to keep the visitors from taking over.

The Hurricanes travel to Ethel Walker next for a game Saturday.

Women's College Hockey

Williams 3, Castleton 1

CASTLETON, Vermont — The Ephs scooted back above .500 with a big non-conference road win at Castleton University.

Williams netted two goals in the opening period and led 3-0 before the hosts got on the board late in the third. Seven different players tallied a point for the Ephs, with goals coming from Hallie Whitmore, Anna Fucillo and Abby Brustad.

Marissa Anderson stopped 15 shots to earn the win.

Williams (3-2-2) got a goal in the third minute from Whitmore on an assist by Amanda Reisman. Six minutes later, Fucillo was helped along by Candace Lu and Avery Dunn.

Then, in the final minute of the game, Brustad put home a Meghan Halloran assist for her fifth goal of the season.

Casey Traill scored for Castleton (4-5-1) on a Jade Remillard assist. Dunn and Olivia Stokes put five shots on goal each.

Alexis Kalm made 22 saves for the home team.
