Mount Washington annual town meeting preview

Where: Mount Washington Town Hall, 118 East St.

This year's town meeting includes 16 articles that aim to set the annual town operating budget, make a few large purchases and set aside money for a rainy day. The $560,000 proposed budget is $9,027 less than the current budget. Much of the savings are due to a reduction in public school transportation costs.

Health care message: Town leaders also are seeking to send a message to Boston through town meeting. The final article asks residents to declare that health insurance costs for town employees have become untenable in Mount Washington and that a Massachusetts-run single-payer system similar to MassHealth should be created for the benefit of the state.
