PITTSFIELD — Nancy Eve Cohen has been named Berkshire County reporter for New England Public Radio, the station has announced. A freelance reporter with NEPR since 2012, Cohen replaces Adam Frenier who is now based at the station's Springfield headquarters. Frenier had covered Berkshire County since 2015.As a freelance reporter for NEPR, Cohen has contributed recent pieces on the legalization of marijuana in Massachusetts, and local farming and school safety from the perspective of students and teachers. She began her journalism career in television, but has worked in public radio for more than two decades, with reporting stints at stations in Hartford, Conn., Boston and Vermont. Early in her career, she was an editor at NPR in Washington, D.C.Cohen teaches journalism at Smith College and has also taught at the University of Hartford, UMass-Amherst and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. She most recently served as the managing editor of BuildingGreen, a national journal on sustainable architecture and design.NEPR has also placed senior reporter Jill Kaufman on the arts and culture beat.
