New Marlborough: Community festival, annual pig roast


Elihu Burritt Day will be celebrated from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, on the Village Green.

Festivities include music, hayrides, kids' crafts, a white elephant sale, food, exhibitors, and crafters throughout the day.

Highlights include appraisals from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., a pet parade at 10 a.m., Roger the Jester at 11 a.m., and the Elihu Burritt Award presentation at noon.

The New Marlborough Volunteer Fire Company's annual pig roast and block dance will follow from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fire Station on Norfolk Road, Southfield.

The menu includes roast pork, turkey and fixings. A raffle offers more than 50 prizes.

Dinner tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for children. Dinner and raffle tickets are available at the Mill River General Store and from any New Marlborough Fire Company member. For pig roast information, contact David Smith at 413-429-6680.
