New play, 'Dream/Awake,' premiering at The Whit
PITTSFIELD — The Whitney Center for the Arts presents "Dream/Awake," a new play by J. Peter Bergman, beginning Nov. 8 and running through Nov. 17 with performances Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 and Sunday afternoons at 2.
There will be a talkback with the playwright following the final performance Nov. 17
The Whitney Center is at 42 Wendell Ave.
Directed by Bergman, assisted by Monica Bliss, the cast includes Josh Bishoff, Hollie Zegman, Brandon Lee, Amy Hausknecht, Patrice Metcalf and Liam Reynolds.
The play is about a man dealing with both seven-year-itch syndrome in his marriage and the ghosts of his childhood experiences that have reinforced identity issues. Now he cannot help but confuse his dreams and his real life.
Developed through the Berkshire Playwrights Lab workshop under the supervision of Mike Brady and Jim Frangione, "Dream/Awake" was given a staged reading, directed by Macey Levin, at St. James Place in Great Barrington in January. It is the third play created by Bergman during his time in BPL's Berkshire Voices workshop.
Ticket information is available online at thewhit.org or by phone at 413-442-0289.
