No bail for Pittsfield man charged with raping, beating woman with oxygen tank

PITTSFIELD — A city man accused of beating a woman with an oxygen tank and raping her was ordered held without the right to bail Monday.

Anthony D. Miller, 50, has been charged with aggravated rape, kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a family or household member and witness intimidation. He entered not guilty pleas Monday to his charges in Central Berkshire District Court.

Details of the charges were not immediately available. Court records, including police reports, have been impounded.

According to the records that are available, the alleged assaults took place sometime Friday.

According to Pittsfield police, Miller was arrested Saturday evening at a Pittsfield address where the victim lives. He was arraigned before Judge Mark J. Pasquariello and will be held pending an April 19 bind over hearing to determine whether enough probable cause exists to move the case into Berkshire Superior Court.
