North Adams: City cancels fireworks display

Consistent with the previously announced decision to cancel all annual summer events in North Adams through Labor Day, the city's Fourth of July fireworks display has been canceled.

The North Adams Fire Department reminds community members that it is illegal for private citizens to use, possess or sell fireworks in Massachusetts, or to purchase them legally elsewhere and then transport them into the state.

The law prohibits any article designed to produce a visible or audible effect. Anyone found using or in possession of illegal fireworks will have them confiscated and will be fined.
