North Adams: Talk, panel address substance abuse and the child's brain


Dr. Jennifer Michaels will present "Alcohol, Marijuana and Opioids: What Parents Need to Know" at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at MCLA Church Street Center.

The talk and a panel discussion will address the impact of substance use on a young person's brain.

Panelists include Dr. Kathryn Wiseman, pediatrician, Northern Berkshire Pediatrics; Mayor Richard Alcombright; Jessica Sweeney, director of ROOTS: Northern Berkshire Teen Center; Robert Putnam, Hoosac Valley High School superintendent; Wendy Penner, director of prevention and wellness, Northern Berkshire Community Coalition; and others.

Pizza will be served at 5:45 p.m.

The event is coordinated by the nbCC as part of their nb21 program to prevent youth substance use.
