PITTSFIELD J. Allen's Clubhouse Grille, a fixture on North Street for the past six years, was scheduled to close at the conclusion of business Tuesday, according to both a restaurant employee and a posting on Facebook.

The eatery's co-owner, David Powell, did not return a phone call seeking comment.

The eatery, named after Powell's late grandfather, Jack Allen Powell, had opened at 41 North St. a few doors down from the Beacon Cinema in January 2013. On Sept. 27, the eatery had scaled back its hours and began opening weekdays at 4 p.m., according to a message on the restaurant's voicemail system.

J. Allen's is the third restaurant to occupy 41 North St. in the last 12 years. The former Bobby Hudpuckers moved to the site from its original location on East Street in 2007, but closed in September 2009, two months before the Beacon officially opened. The former Brulee's Restaurant & Catering occupied the space from 2010 to 2012.
