Note about explosives causes disruption at Family Dollar in Pittsfield

Posted

PITTSFIELD — City police responded to Family Dollar on Monday afternoon after a concerning note was discovered on the floor, police say.

The note suggested an explosive had been placed somewhere in the North Street store, but it was "unknown how long the note had been on the floor or if it was even intended for Family Dollar," according to Pittsfield Police Lt. Michael Maddalena.

Store employees waited outside as police officers arrived shortly before 2 p.m. and searched the store, he said. They did not find any explosives.
