One man killed in Pittsfield shooting
PITTSFIELD — One man was killed early Sunday morning in a shooting on Edward Avenue.
The man's name was not released, pending notification of family.
According to a news release from the Pittsfield Police Department, at around 2:13 a.m. authorities received a report of a possible gunshot victim outside a location on Edward Avenue. Police found a man who appeared to have suffered at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"At this time the Pittsfield Police Department does not believe that there is a threat to the general public," the release said. Edward Avenue, a residential area, is near the intersection of Elm Street and Holmes Road. Sunday afternoon, there was police tape around a yard and driveway at 51-53 Edward Ave. A woman who answered the phone at 53 Edward Ave. declined to comment.
