Meanwhile in Bristol, Connecticut, the local version of the Red Sox, Pittsfield American, will play Coventry, Rhode Island, today at 4, with the winner advancing to Saturday's New England Regional Little League championship game. Pittsfield American Tuesday defeated Maine champion Saco-Maremont, 9-4, behind the hitting of Evan Blake and Owen Salvatore and the pitching of Cam Sime and Antonio Scalise. While the Berkshire Force lost the winner's bracket championship game in the Babe Ruth 12U Softball World Series Saturday in Florida, that didn't take any luster off an excellent season. The Force reached the Series by defeating New Milford, Connecticut, in a memorable extra-inning game to capture the New England Regional title, with Emma Newberry hitting a walk-off double. The Force contributed to the Berkshire tradition of success on the diamond. May the Force be with Pittsfield American.
