Patti LaBelle, Darlene Love join Tanglewood Popular Artists lineup

LENOX — The "Godmother of Soul," Patti LaBelle will make her Tanglewood debut 7:30 p.m. June 27. Sharing the stage with Ms. LaBelle is Darlene Love.

Tickets, which range from $27-$119, go on sale 10 a.m. March 9.

In a career that has spanned five decades, LaBelle has sold more than 50 million records worldwide and has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, Hollywood Walk of Fame, and Apollo Theater Walk of Fame.

The lead vocalist for Patti LaBelle & The Bluebelles and later Labelle, Ms. LaBelle launched her solo career in the late 1970s and has since won two Grammy awards, for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for her 1991 album, "Burnin'," followed by a second Grammy win for the live album, "Live! One Night Only."

Also an accomplished actress, author, and entrepreneur, LaBelle remains an advocate for adoption, diabetes, cancer, HIV/AIDS, and many other humanitarian causes and nonprofit initiatives.

In her early career, as lead singer for The Blossoms, Darlene Love sang background vocals for The Righteous Brothers, Dionne Warwick, Marvin Gaye, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley, among others, before emerging as a star in her own right. Her Billboard hits include "He's A Rebel," "The Boy I'm Gonna Marry," "Wait `Til My Bobby Gets Home," "He's Sure the Boy I Love," and the holiday classic "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)." In 2011, Love was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

LaBelle and Love join a Tanglewood Popular Artists lineup that includes Ringo Starr (June 19), Trey Anastasio with the Boston Pops (June 20), Judy Collins and Arlo Guthrie (June 21), Brandi Carlile (June 26), James Taylor and his All-Star Band (July 4), "Wait, Wait ... Don't Tell Me!" with host Peter Sagal (Aug. 27), and John Legend (Aug. 28).

John Legend tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Monday.
