People: Film based on Patricia Hearst book canceled
Twentieth Century Fox Film says it is canceling the studio's planned movie based on Jeffrey Toobin's Patricia Hearst book "American Heiress."
Toobin's non-fiction book chronicled the saga of Hearst's kidnapping by the Symbionese Liberation Army in 1974 and her eventual bank robbery conviction with the radical group.
The studio announced the decision late Thursday after Hearst earlier in the day issued a lengthy statement condemning the project and Toobin's book, which she described as victim blaming and an attempt to "rewrite history."
Fox representatives declined to comment on whether the decision to cancel production was related to Hearst's statement.
As of December, "Logan" director James Mangold had been set to helm the adaptation with Elle Fanning in talks to play Hearst.
Toobin did not immediately respond to request for comment.
Fogerty irked film borrows from his song's name
John Fogerty says he's annoyed that Taraji P. Henson's new film, "Proud Mary," borrows from his popular song's name without his involvement.
Fogerty does not own the rights to his infamous song. In a statement released Thursday, he says "it irks me when people seek to capitalize on the popularity of my music" for their own financial gain.
Henson plays a hit woman in "Proud Mary," to be released on Friday. Its trailer uses Tina Turner's version of Fogerty's 1969 song.
Fogerty says the movie "has nothing to do with me, or my song." The 72-year-old adds that no one ever asked him about using his song that way.
Representatives for Henson and Sony Pictures didn't immediately return emails seeking comment.
'Teen Mom 2' member arrested in meth lab bust
A man who once appeared in the MTV reality show "Teen Mom 2" has been charged with running a meth lab in Pennsylvania.
Police say officers arrested 28-year-old Kieffer Delp on Wednesday in a McKees Rocks apartment following complaints that there was a meth lab in the building. Authorities say they found chemicals, containers and other items used to make the drug in the apartment near Pittsburgh.
Delp was jailed, unable to post bail on charges including operating a meth lab. Court documents don't list a defense attorney.
Delp was the boyfriend of one woman followed on the show. Mike Manko of the Allegheny County District Attorney's office told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that detectives were informed of the suspect's probable connection to the show before they entered.
McKees Rocks is about 5 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
