Pittsfield: Berkshire Lyric raises $3K for food pantries
Berkshire Lyric announces that its Aug. 17 "Concert With a Cause" raised over $3,000 that was distributed to three local food pantries. The virtual event featured new performances by Lyric's summer chamber chorus Ubi Caritas' as well as interviews with Lyric Chorus members who have been involved professionally with various aspects of pandemic relief.
Videos of both Ubi Caritas singing in recent years at St. Mark Church and the larger Berkshire Lyric Chorus performing at Tanglewood's Seiji Ozawa Hall were also part of the film.
Local recipients included The People's Pantry in Great Barrington, Community Food Pantry in Pittsfield and the Berkshire Food Project in North Adams.
Berkshire Lyric's four choruses have been unable to rehearse and perform together during since the start of the pandemic in March. This virtual concert was an effort to continue the ongoing summer food pantry support program that Lyric has been doing for the past eight years.
