The Pittsfield Cultural Council has announced three dozen grants to be awarded to a broad array of projects and initiatives by local artists and cultural organizations. In all, $37,426 will be awarded to those presenting cultural events and arts projects that will benefit Pittsfield residents.

PCC is funding all or part of 36 projects that will occur during 2020 in the following categories: art (seven); customs (two); dance (two); history (two); music (nine); poetry (one); science/education (six); and theater (seven). For a complete list of awards, visit mass-culture.org/Pittsfield.

The grants are part of the council's annual grants program, which is funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency that supports public programs and educational activities in the arts, interpretive sciences, and humanities.

Decisions about which activities to support are made at the community level by a board of municipally appointed volunteers.

The Pittsfield Cultural Council will seek grant applications again in the fall.
