Pittsfield: Group sets pop-up meal distribution
Berkshire Pay It Forward has scheduled its fifth pop-up meal distribution from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at the Home Depot/Walmart entrance, 555 Hubbard Ave.
The free meals are available on a first-come, first-served basis to families who have been rendered unemployed by COVID-19 layoffs.
This week's prepackaged frozen meal contains lasagna, vegetable and dessert. Chef Brandon Horn is also donating homemade pasta fagioli and bread.
In order to maintain safety protocols, people are asked to drive up for distribution. All volunteers will be wearing masks and gloves.
Berkshire Pay It Forward is a committee of volunteers, formed by members of Local 12325 of the United Steelworkers Union. Donations are being accepted in the Berkshire Pay It Forward account at Greylock Federal Credit Union.
