Pittsfield: Housatonic River cleanup planned

Housatonic Valley Association and Berkshire Environmental Action Team are organizing a river cleanup to remove miscellaneous trash from the West Branch of the Housatonic River from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug 19.

Participants will meet at Wahconah Park, 105 Wahconah St. Wear old clothes, boots or sneakers, and bring a hat, sunscreen and water bottle.

Canoes will be used to move volunteers and trash. A picnic lunch and snacks, work gloves and trash bags are provided.

Pouring rain or thunder cancels the event.
