Pittsfield: Knesset Israel announces Purim festivities

Knesset Israel will celebrate the annual festival of Purim with a number of festivities. All events will take place at KI, 16 Colt Road, unless otherwise noted.

A Purim Carnival for children featuring games, face painting and prizes will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Temple Anshe Amunim, 26 Broad St. Costumes are encouraged. Cost is $8 per child or a maximum of $20 per family.

KI and Temple Anshe Amunim come together at KI for a service and reading from the Scroll of Esther at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28. Costumes are encouraged.

The Knesset Israel Band will present a concert and dance party at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3. Cost is $15 per person.

KI and the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires will continue the 40+ year tradition of baking hamantaschen pastries to be delivered to homebound Jewish elders. The event is known as "Joe's Project" in memory of Joe Madison, the Jewish baker who started this community-wide project.
