Pittsfield: PCTV releases streaming app
Pittsfield Community Television has launched "PCTV Select," a programming service available on Roku and AppleTV internet-connected video devices, in an effort to connect the whole community, including cable TV "cord-cutters," to stay informed during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
Users will be able to access PCTV Select for free as an app on their Roku devices or Apple TV by searching for PCTV Select where they usually get their streaming apps.
PCTV had been working on the PCTV Select service for several months and had intended to release the app after a beta test. In light of the current crisis, PCTV decided to skip the beta test and roll out the platform, although there may be bugs and issues that may not have been worked out.
PCTV Select consists of a live video stream, along with access to the entire library of video-on-demand content that is available on the PCTV website.
Following the live stream of the WTBR-FM simulcast of "Morning Drive" at 7:30 a.m. weekdays, PCTV Select will air reruns of pertinent press conferences and statements, as well as breaking in as needed with live coverage of press conferences and announcements from the city of Pittsfield and other updates from the city and state.
PCTV will continue to provide live programming of essential press conferences and information on PCTV City Link 1303 and on Facebook Live on the PCTV Facebook page.
89.7 WTBR-FM, Pittsfield Community Radio, will also carry live press conferences if possible.
