Pittsfield: PHS to destroy student records

All temporary cumulative school and health records for students who have graduated from Pittsfield High School during the 2014 school year will be destroyed after July 15.

State regulations require that student records be destroyed no later than five years after the student graduates. However, the high school transcript, which includes grades for the four years of high school, is maintained for 60 years following graduation.

Students interested in retrieving their records before destruction should contact the School Counseling Office at 413-499-9541 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. before July 15.

Students who receive services from the Special Education Department should contact the Special Education Office at 413-499-9516 for an appointment to pick up any other records.

In addition, the School Counseling Office will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in July and August for students seeking transcripts.
