Pittsfield school bus rear-ended on East Street

PITTSFIELD — A Westfield man was cited in a crash involving a school bus on Wednesday afternoon.

No injuries were reported in the crash, which happened on East Street shortly before 4 p.m.

According to a Pittsfield Police Department press release, Anthony Disanto, of Westfield, was driving a 2012 Honda Civic when he crashed into another car's rear end. The other car, a 2009 Nissan Versa operated by Daniel Hammer, subsequently crashed into the backside of a school bus transporting about 19 children, the release states.

At the time of the crash, the school bus was stopped at a traffic light on East Street at First Street. Disanto was cited for "failure to use care in stopping."
