Pittsfield: Shaker Village offers eclipse viewing
Throughout the day, visitors may participate in a solar scavenger hunt and make a pinhole eclipse viewer, and at 2:30 p.m., gather with HSV President Jennifer Trainer Thompson in the gardens for a community eclipse viewing.
Visitors will also learn how Shakers harvested the sun's light to brighten interior rooms and encourage egg production, test the Shakers' ancient sundial, and find out how the Shakers kept food cool in the sun's warmth by visiting the ice house.
Events are included in admission and are free for members.
