Pittsfield: Synagogues hosting staged readings


Temple Anshe Amunim, in collaboration with Congregation Knesset Israel, will present "Restoration: Anti-Semitism in France," a double bill by Jesse Waldinger, a playwright specializing in historical dramas, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Temple Anshe Amunim, 26 Broad St. Refreshments will be served.

Professional actors will perform staged readings of "The Esterhazy Draft" and "The Finaly Affair."

Special guests at the discussion following the readings include Suzanne Vromen, who as a child fled Nazi-occupied Belgium and attended school in a convent in the Belgian Congo, and Joyce Block Lazarus, author of "In the Shadow of Vichy: The Finaly Affair."

Donation is $20, free for students.
