Police arrest Pittsfield woman on charge of stabbing her boyfriend


Pittsfield —A city woman was arrested Saturday night after police say she stabbed her boyfriend in the stomach.

Tina Marie Provost, 53, was arrested on one count of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Her boyfriend, 30, was taken to Berkshire Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery, according to a news release from the Pittsfield Police Department. He is in stable condition.

Officers responded to a residence around 7 p.m. after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance with a knife. They discovered that Provost had stabbed her boyfriend once in the abdomen, the release said.

Provost is being held at the Pittsfield Police Department on $2,500 bail. She will be arraigned Monday morning in Central Berkshire District Court.
