Rental Housing Association offers lead abatement course

PITTSFIELD — The Rental Housing Association of Berkshire County will sponsor the Massachusetts Lead-Safe Renovator / EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting Course on March 3. The course will be held at the American Legion, 41 Wendell Ave., Pittsfield.This course was developed to train renovation, repair and painting contractors on how to work safely in housing containing lead-based paint. Contractors, and owners or maintenance personnel who work for compensation on homes built before 1978 must take this course in order to comply with the standards of the Massachusetts Department of Labor, the EPA and HUD. Certificates will be issued upon completion of the course.The cost is $199. A $45 discount is available for those who have joined or will join RHABC. Jim Montemagni and Scott Balfour, who both have 20 years of lead training, are the instructors. Class size is limited. Registration/information: Wendy Goodwin at 413 499-1330.
