Roundup: Last minute goal sends Lee girls lacrosse to home win

Posted

LENOX — The Lee girls lacrosse team had to move its game on Tuesday, but it didn't matter.

Brianna Kelly's goal with 23 seconds left broke a tie and gave the Wildcats a hard-fought 11-10 victory over South Hadley. The game was played at Lenox High School.

South Hadley's Bridget Sears had tied the game with 3:08 to go, and it was looking like the game was going to go to overtime. But Kelly got a free position shot with those 23 seconds left, and that was enough for the Wildcats (2-7).

Nicole Gamberoni led Lee with three goals and two assists, while Lauren Kinne had three goals and an assist.

Bolling took both sprints, winning the 100-meter dash in 12.87 seconds. She was also strong in the jumping pit, taking both the long and triple jumps. Teammate Savanah Berkeley backed up Bolling in both jumps, and claimed a first in the high jump, clearing 4 feet, 4 inches. Taconic also got dual wins from Lily Lobovits and Makayla Canino. Canino took the mile and 2 mile, while Lobovits outclassed the competition in the shot put and discus. She was second in javelin, with Drury's Laura Thomas laying out an 85-05 throw.

Taconic boys 98, Drury 40

NORTH ADAMS — The Taconic boys (4-3) swept four events during a road win at Drury (0-6).

Andrew Walchenbach ruled the jumping events, sweeping the long, high and triple. He cleared 34 feet, 11 inches in the triple jump, and was the lone multi-event victor of the afternoon. Instead, Taconic relied on its depth, winning 10 events with eight different athletes. Frank Boua won the 400 in 56.50 seconds, and took seconds in the long jump and 200.

Drury's Brian Czarnecki submitted a 12.18 run to win the 100, holding off Taconic's Thomas Rabasco by .25 seconds.

Brandon Pelkey put down a 5:08.96 to take the mile.
