Roundup: Williams women's basketball survives on road at Hamilton

CLINTON, N.Y. — The Ephs survived a furious fourth-quarter comeback by host Hamilton on Saturday to win 64-59 on the road.

Williams (11-13, 5-5 NESCAC) led 53-35 through three quarters apparently with the game well in hand. However, Hamilton (10-11, 0-9) scored 24 points in the final frame to startle the Ephs.

Lauren Vostal had 14 points and 13 rebounds, in addition to three blocks to lead the Ephs. Mikaela Topper tallied a game-high 15 points, while Maggie Meehan chipped in 10.

WILLIAMSTOWN — For the second time in less than 24 hours, Williams was handed a loss.

The Ephs (19-4, 6-3 NESCAC) couldn't recuperate quickly enough after a home loss to Amherst on Friday, and suffered the same fate Saturday afternoon.

Hamilton (19-3, 5-3) got 25 points from Kena Gilmour, and poured in 42 points total in the first half.

Williams countered with 20 points from Bobby Casey, but he was 1 of 10 from 3-point land, and the lone other double-digit scorer for the Ephs was Henry Feinberg with 10 off the bench.

Friday's basketball

Putnam 47, McCann Tech girls 39

SPRINGFIELD — The Hornets competed all night long on the road at Putnam, but couldn't quite ever get over the hump.

McCann Tech led 10-9 after one quarter, but saw a tie game at the half be pulled away by the hosts in the late stages.

Izzy LaCasse posted 14 points and Kaylee Tatro added 13, but with only four scoring Hornets, the Beavers' opposing offense was too much.

The Hornets fall to 11-7.
