WATERVILLE, Maine — The Williams women returned to the United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 this week, and the Ephs celebrated with a 1-0 conference win over Colby.

The 22nd-ranked Ephs got a first-half goal from Rain Condie, and first-year goalkeeper Leyla Kamshad made it stand up as she recorded her first varsity shutout.

Kamshad, who pitched a scoreless half in a non-NESCAC win over Castleton State, only saw five shots toward the goal all day. She made three saves in the second half.

Condie's goal came after her first shot was blocked by the Colby defense. Aspen Pierson got credit for the assist.

Williams (7-2-1, 6-2-0 in NESCAC) has now won four straight, three straight in NESCAC. Colby falls to 3-5-2, 1-5-2.

"We had a much better second half than first," Eph coach Michelyne Pinard said in a release. "We are at our best when we are reading, not reacting, to the play. That was the difference."

After a scoreless first quarter, Williams scored twice in less than three minutes. Catherine Torres and van den Broek got goals to make it 2-0 at halftime. The Mules never caught up.
