Season opens with 'The Cemetery Club'

GHENT, N.Y. — Ghent Playhouse begins its 2019-20 this weekend with Ivan Menchell's "The Cemetery Club," directed by John Trainor.The cast includes Jackie DeGiorgis, Ellen Lieberman, Lael Locke, Peter Podol and Judith Wyatt.

The comedy-drama opens 8 p.m. Friday and runs through Oct. 27 with evening performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8 and Sunday afternoons at 2 at Ghent Playhouse, 6 Town Hall Road.

There is a preview performance 8 p.m. Thursday.

Friday's opening night performance will be followed by a meet-the-cast-and-director reception.

The play focuses on three Jewish widows who meet once a month for tea before going to visit their husbands' graves and what happens to the dynamics of their relationship when a butcher enters the scene and takes a romantic interest in one of them.
