Seventh heaven: Eph women are NCAA crew champs

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- Williams College captured its seventh consecutive national title in women’s crew on Saturday with the Ephs top two varsity boats capturing wins in the Grand Finals.

Williams now has won eight of the 11 NCAA title awarded at the Division III level. The Varsity 1 boat won all 12 races it competed in this year and the Varsity 2 boat won the last nine race s of the season. Neither boat trailed in the prelims on Friday or the finals on Saturday.

The Varsity 2 boat finished in 6:49.74 beating second-place Bates, which finished in 6:58.34.

Varsity 1 finished in 6:31.98, 3.16 seconds ahead of Bates.

"I’m just so ecstatic right now. I’m so happy for the seniors continuing the success," Williams coach Kate Maloney said. "It’s so hard to keep this tradition going."
