Stephentown, NY: Exclusive exhibit of Vietnam photos
The Veterans of Stephentown will present "Young Men At War: Remembering The Tet Offensive," an exclusive exhibit featuring 20 images from the Battle of Hue, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Stephentown Veterans Memorial Park.
Captured by Chatham resident John Olson in February 1968 during his service as a U.S. Army combat photographer for Stars & Stripes, these images are renowned for their realistic depiction of the war's bloodiest battle.
In addition to earning Olson the prestigious Robert Capa Award, the photos were published in the March 8, 1968, issue of Life Magazine, profiled on "CBS Sunday Morning" and displayed in a 50th anniversary exhibition at The Newseum in Washington, D.C.
The large-format, museum-quality prints will be on loan for one day only to The Veterans of Stephentown.
This free event is one of 26 being presented Friday through Sunday, Aug. 16 to 18, during the annual Celebrate Stephentown festival. For schedule information, visit celebratestephentown.com.
