Get a jump start on St. Patrick's Day with the Whit's Early Bird Cabaret dinner event, with Steve Hassmer and Kimberly Gritman and special guest Tony Pastore, 6 p.m. Enjoy a dinner of Irish soda bread, Irish Guinness beef stew, coffee and cheesecake with Irish cream. Berkshire Theatre Group's $5 Comedy Garage presents JR De Guzman, 7:30 p.m. in the Colonial Lobby, 111 South St., Pittsfield. De Guzman has appeared on MTV's "Acting Out" and Comedy Central's "Hart of the City," and has performed for Stand-Up Tokyo and ROR Comedy in Japan, the Joker's Ball in Indonesia, the Badaboom Comedy Series in Amsterdam and the Edmonton Comedy Festival. This event is general admission, so get there early to get seat.

Make it movie night. The Mahaiwe Movie Series is presenting The Marx Brothers' 1935 slapstick musical "A Night at the Opera," at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8. Mahaiwe Performing Art Center is located at 14 Castle St., Great Barrington.


If you're looking to catch some live music, don't miss The Stash! Band at the Barn at the Egremont Village Inn, 17 Main St., South Egremont. Featuring singer/songwriter/guitarist Stash Wyslouch, drummer/vocalist Sean Trischka, fiddle player Duncan Wickel and bassist Noam Wiesenberg, the band celebrates its sophomore album, "Faucet of Love," 8 p.m.

Or head to Castle Street Cafe and catch a performance by the Wanda Houston Band, 8 p.m., 10 Castle St., Great Barrington.

It's time for Bindlestiff Family Cirkus' monthly cabaret, 9 p.m., at Club Helsinki, 405 Columbia St., Hudson, N.Y. According to Helsinki Hudson, "Each month... will bring a new lineup, with acts including trapeze, contortion, acrobatic balance, sword swallowing, juggling, physical comedy and oddball novelty turns. The Bindlestiff stage is one of the few arenas in the world where attendees may see internationally renowned street performers, featured acts from Cirque du Soleil and Ringling Brothers and artists from "America's Got Talent" next to local legends, live, on stage, and in the same show."
