PITTSFIELD — Several people were injured Thursday after a three-car crash at the intersection of Williams Street and Leona Drive.

About 3 p.m., a silver Volkswagen heading down Williams Street apparently rear-ended a Ford SUV, causing that vehicle to roll onto its side in a nearby yard, according to a witness. The Volkswagen then careened into another vehicle coming the opposite direction on Williams Street.

Witnesses said they saw emergency responders perform CPR on the driver of the Volkswagen, who appeared to be a young man. He did not appear to be responsive, they said.

The driver of the SUV appeared to be trapped in her vehicle, but was seen walking after being freed from the vehicle. She was transported from the scene, along with two people who were in the third vehicle.

The extent of their injuries was not clear.

Williams Street was closed to traffic from Dalton Division Road to Harryel Street as police investigated the scene.
