Tanglewood: Thomas Wilkins to make debut with Boston Pops in festival finale
The Boston Pops will close the Tanglewood summer on Sunday, Sept. 2, with the "American Songbook" concert under the direction of Thomas Wilkins, the Tanglewood Press Office has announced. The performance will mark Wilkins' Tanglewood debut. He is music director of the Omaha Symphony. [You can watch Wilkins talk Mozart here.]
Joining them will be pianist and vocalist Michael Feinstein, the five-time Grammy-nominated entertainer dubbed "The Ambassador of the Great American Songbook." Feinstein is considered one of the premier interpreters of American standards. [You can hear some of Feinstein's music here.]
Broadway's Christine Ebersole will join Wilkins and the Boston Pops for the performance, which will feature some of the most beloved tunes in the American songbook repertoire. A singer and actress, Ebersole's performances range from Broadway stage to television series and specials, films, concert appearances, and recordings.
