'These Mysterious Hills': New book details legends, lore, and unexplained Berkshire mysteries

Posted

The book, which weaves together an alternative history of the Berkshires, is a collection of "local X-files" compiled by Durwin for a combination of newspaper, magazine, television, radio and Internet media outlets since 2004.

The collected tales range from the legends of pre-Colonial indigenous people to the still emerging mysteries of the present day, including ghosts, hauntings, poltergeists, UFO encounters, unknown animals, unsolved murders and other unexplained phenomenon.

The reception will feature readings from the book, along with a Q&A about local mysteries and projected images of local haunts and curious places throughout the Berkshires.

Opening Reception: Book signing and reception, Saturday, 7 to 9 p.m., at the Whitney Center for the Arts, 42 Wendell Ave., Pittsfield. Free.

Ghost Hunt: Saturday, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Special ticket-only ghost hunt at the Whitney Center, AKA the Colt Mansion, with members of Berkshire Paranormal.
