Thunderbolt Ski Race makes return to Mount Greylock with NE Rando Race Series

ADAMS — The Thunderbolt Ski Race, part of the New England Rando Race Series, got a beautiful bluebird day on Saturday for it's first competitive run since 2015.

34 racers from all over ascended and descended Mount Greylock in a race against time and stamina.

There were 29 competitors in the full course, which was won by Milan Kubala in 2 hours, 21 minutes and 48 seconds. He bested Brian Macilvain (2:29:08) by nearly eight minutes.

Kubala won the Masters/45+ category, while Macilvain is the Open champion, with Edward Warren placing third overall in 2:30:06. Chris Labosky and Jerimy Arnold rounded out the top five.

Jennifer Dowling was the first of three competing women to finish. She clocked in at 3:06:23, with Laura Tuttle (3:56:17) and Katie Vadasdi (4:32:41) in tow.

In the 5-racer shorter course option, Leslie Burnard was the champion in 3:25:41. Brian Trimby was next in 3:42:19, winning the Masters/45+ category. Demetri Vernadakis was the Open men's winner in 4:00:59.
