UPS employee struck by pickup in North Adams
NORTH ADAMS >> A United Parcel Service employee was injured on Wednesday when he was struck by a vehicle on Beaver Street, according to police.
The victim, whom police did not immediately identify, was taken by North Adams Ambulance Service to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening, according to Amalio Jusino, assistant chief and operations manager at North Adams Ambulance Service.
The UPS truck was pulled over to the side of the southbound lane of Beaver Street about 11:40 a.m. when the employee apparently walked out in front of the vehicle and was struck by a pickup truck, also headed south, according to North Adams Police Lt. David Sacco. The employee was a seasonal worker for UPS and not the driver of the delivery vehicle.
Beaver Street was shut down for nearly two hours as the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Scene was called in to investigate the accident.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
