Wahconah's Hill, Brogan; Lenox's Caproni help Team Massachusetts at regional alpine championships

The winter season continued for some of Berkshire County's elite athletes this past week. That included alpine skiers Tanner Hill, Kyle Brogan and Abby Kate Caproni.

The three locals competes at the USSA Eastern Regional High School Alpine Championships at Attitash Ski Resort in New Hampshire.

Backing up a pair of top-four finishes in GS and slalom at the MIAA state meet at Wachusett on Feb. 27, Berkshire County champion Hill placed eighth in slalom and 16th in GS last weekend. Hill and Brogan were part of a 12-man Massachusetts team that placed first overall in both disciplines.

Hill was the second place racer from Massachusetts. Brogan placed 72nd in slalom on Friday and then 33rd in Saturday's GS race.

Massachusetts bested 12 other states, ranging from New England on out to Wisconsin and Michigan. It was the state's first Eastern Regional title in seven years.

Caproni, a Drury student and Lenox skier, competed for the Massachusetts girls team. The Berkshire County girls champion helped her home state to a second-place overall finish.
