Ways and Means Committee to hold budget hearing in Pittsfield


PITTSFIELD -- State Sen. Benjamin B. Downing and state Rep. William "Smitty" Pignatelli will host fellow members of the House and Senate committees on Ways and Means for a state budget hearing Monday in Pittsfield.

State officials from the energy, environment and transportation agencies will testify about their budget needs and priorities within the governor's budget proposal for fiscal 2013. Testimony is limited to invitation only.

Members of the public are welcome to attend but are unable to present testimony.

The hearing will be held Monday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Robert Boland Theatre at Berkshire Community College, 1350 West St., Pittsfield.

In addition to members of the Berkshire County legislative delegation, the following officials are expected to attend: Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Richard K. Sullivan Jr., Agricultural Resources Commissioner Scott J. Soares, Conservation and Recreation Commissioner Edward M. Lambert Jr., Environmental Protection Commissioner Kenneth L. Kimmell, Energy Resources Commissioner Mark Sylvia, Fish and Game Commissioner Mary B. Griffin, Public Utilities Chairwoman Ann G. Berwick, Department of Transportation Secretary and CEO Richard A. Davey, Registry of Motor Vehicles Registrar Rachel Kaprielian, MassDOT Highway Division Administrator Frank DePaola, MassDOT Rail & Transit Division acting Administrator Jonathan Davis, and MassDOT Aeronautics Division Administrator Christopher Willenborg.
