World premiere musical joins Barrington Stage Company's 2019 Mainstage season

PITTSFIELD — "Fall Springs," a world premiere musical, is joining "Into the Woods" and "Gertrude and Claudius" on Barrington Stage Company's Boyd-Quinson Mainstage this summer.

The musical from the creator of "Pool Boy" — Niko Tsakalakos (music and lyrics), in collaboration with Peter Sinn Nacchtreib (book and lyrics) — is scheduled to run Aug. 9-31. Stephen Brackett is directing.

The satiric musical is set in the fictional cash-strapped town of Fall Springs, which sits directly on top of America's largest reserve of cosmetic essential oils. The town has big dreams, but, with new fracking techniques being recklessly implemented, at what cost?

BSC's 2019 Mainstage season begins June 19-July 13 with the Stephen Sondheim-James Lapine musical, "Into the Woods," directed by Joe Calarco, and continues with Mark St. Germain's stage adaptation of John Updike's novel, "Gertrude and Claudius," July 18-Aug. 3, directed by BSC artistic director Julianne Boyd.
