Thought for the day

“Imagination is the only key to the future. Without it none exists — with it all things are possible.” — IDA M. TARBELL, American journalist (1857-1944)

The Greeting

Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019

Good morning, Berkshires. For those of you heading to the polls today, good luck out there, and may the most qualified candidate win!

We have a listing of polling places for today's elections; just take a peek below in the story rundown, or click here to proceed directly to the information. For a wrapup of the Pittsfield races, click here.

And, thank the heavens, we have other news to make us feel good (or, at least, informed) on Election Day ...

DID SOMEONE SAY OVERLAY?: Yes, we did. This time, the overlay is in Adams, where they're considering changes to allow for more affordable housing and commercial development.

YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND: The brother in law of James Taylor is sentenced for perpetrating a multimillion dollar fraud, but the singer and his wife give more than million back to those who were duped by her brother, Albert Hessberg III.

MOTION DENIED: The defense gains no ground in a Berkshire courtroom in a case of gun violence that left a young man seriously maimed.

ANOTHER DENIAL: The off-duty Pittsfield Police officer accused of beating a man and sending him to the hospital has his motion for dismissal denied by a county judge.

DANCING THROUGH THE PAIN: Five dancers at Berkshire Pulse have created their own work on the theme of sexual assault. And they have caught national attention.

Very best,

Noah Hoffenberg
