Dozens of homes and businesses lost water service Sunday morning so Pittsfield city crews could repair a water main break on Benedict Road.
The break occurred Saturday evening, but it took water department employees 12 hours to shut off the necessary valves to bring it under control and lay a 5-foot section of new pipe. Water service was restored late Sunday morning.
A water main break disrupted service for customers along a stretch of Dalton Avenue from Benedict Road to Woodlawn Avenue on Saturday night and Sunday morning, according to city officials.
